PC Be GoneProfessional Electronics Pickup

Planned services

A useful next chapter
for your electronics.

Focused on computers, peripherals, and smaller electronics from homes and small businesses.

Additional services are in development. Accepted items, the pickup fee, and secure data-handling arrangements will be confirmed before any future pickup.

01

Electronics pickup

Appointment-based collection to help you clear out unused equipment without a trip to a drop-off site.

For residential clear-outs and small business equipment changes. No walk-in or drop-off service.

02

Equipment reuse

Working devices and useful components deserve consideration before recycling.

The focus is evaluating computers, laptops, memory, and related equipment for possible reuse or refurbishment.

03

Responsible recycling

Equipment that cannot be reused will be directed to an appropriate downstream electronics recycler.

Our recycling approach is to use a downstream recycler with verified certifications and documented processing standards appropriate to the equipment. Those credentials belong to the processing facility and apply within its certified scope.

04

Secure data handling

Our planned services include secure data sanitization with certification, helping protect personal information and confidential business records.

Working drives will be software-sanitized using media-appropriate methods in accordance with NIST SP 800-88 Revision 2 guidance. Nonworking hard drives will be physically destroyed. Unreadable SSDs, including NVMe drives, will be shredded by a professional shredding partner for an additional fee. A certificate of data sanitization will document the media handled and the method used.

Equipment in scope

Think electronics,
not large appliances.

These are planned categories, not a final acceptance list. Email about unusual items before making arrangements.

  • Desktop computers and laptops
  • Computer components, including RAM
  • Keyboards, mice, and computer peripherals
  • Cables and small networking equipment

Large appliances are outside our scope. Monitors, printers, batteries, damaged devices, and other specialty items need individual confirmation.

Before handing over a device

Your files come first.

Back up anything you want to keep. Tell us whether your equipment contains a hard drive or SSD so we can agree on secure handling, destruction, and documentation before pickup. Do not send passwords or sensitive files by email.

For individuals & households

Secure Data Sanitization for Individuals

Your old computer can still contain tax returns, financial records, personal photos, saved accounts, and private messages. A device that no longer starts may still hold readable data.

Our planned sanitization service will help protect that information before equipment is reused or recycled. The method will depend on the drive and its condition: software sanitization for working drives, physical destruction for nonworking hard drives, and professional partner shredding for unreadable SSDs and NVMe drives at an additional fee.

You’ll receive a certificate of data sanitization documenting the media handled and method used. Back up anything you want to keep before handing over a device. Sanitization is intended to make the data unrecoverable, so files cannot be restored afterward.

Privacy & business records

Data Security & Regulatory Compliance

Businesses handling sensitive information have a responsibility to protect it throughout its lifecycle, including when computers and storage devices are retired.

PC Be Gone's planned data sanitization services will follow recognized industry guidance, including NIST SP 800-88 Revision 2 (September 2025), with documented procedures and certificates of data sanitization.

Our services are designed to help organizations support their data protection obligations under applicable regulations, including HIPAA, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act (GLBA), and the FTC Disposal Rule.

Certificates of data sanitization document the activities performed and the methods used. They do not independently establish regulatory compliance. Applicable obligations depend on your organization and the information involved; confirm your requirements before arranging service.

Personal devices can hold financial records, photos, saved accounts, and private correspondence. Business equipment can contain customer information, employee records, and confidential documents. Secure handling matters even when a computer no longer works.

For businesses, agreed destruction procedures and certificates can support internal policies, audit records, and applicable compliance requirements. Tell us your requirements before collection so we can confirm whether the service and documentation meet your needs.
